Bernard Madoff gets maximum 150 years in prison

NEW YORK – Convicted Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison Monday for a fraud that the judge called so “extraordinarily evil” that he needed to send a message to potential copycats and to victims who demanded harsh punishment.

Scattered applause and whoops broke out in the crowded Manhattan courtroom after U.S. District Judge Denny Chin issued the maximum sentence to the 71-year-old defendant, who said he lives “in a tormented state now, knowing all the pain and suffering I’ve created.”

Chin rejected a request by Madoff’s lawyer for leniency and said he disagreed that victims of the Ponzi scheme were seeking mob vengeance. Unless he later wins a reduced sentence, Madoff will spend the rest of his life behind bars because federal inmates are not eligible for parole.

World tells Honduras to reinstate ousted president

World tells Honduras to reinstate ousted president

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) – Honduras’ newly appointed leader vowed Monday to resist pressure from across the Americas to reinstate the president ousted in a military coup, as protesters burned tires outside the occupied presidential palace.

Leaders from Hugo Chavez to Barack Obama called for the reinstatement of Manuel Zelaya, who was arrested in his pajamas Sunday morning by soldiers who stormed his residence and flew him into exile.

Roberto Micheletti, appointed president by congress, insisted that Zelaya was legally removed by the courts and Congress for violating Honduras’ constitution—allegedly to extend his rule.

Good for Honduras. Manuel Zelaya has exceeded his term limits. He is un-democratic that the Honduran military had to overthrow him. The world is stemming against socialism, while sadly the great USA is heading to the road to perdition.

High Court Rules for White Firefighters in Discrimination Suit

High Court Rules for White Firefighters in Discrimination Suit
By Robert Barnes

The Supreme Court today narrowly ruled in favor of white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., who said they were denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision by Judge Sonia Sotomayor and others that had come to play a large role in the consideration of her nomination for the high court.

The city had thrown out the results of a promotion test because no African Americans and only two Hispanics would have qualified for promotions. It said it feared a lawsuit from minorities under federal laws that said such “disparate impacts” on test results could be used to show discrimination.

In effect, the court was deciding when avoiding potential discrimination against one group amounted to actual discrimination against another.

Good ruling. We should stop using race base for promotions and education.

Obama’s EPA Quashes Climate Change Science

Obama’s EPA Quashes Climate Change Science

The Competitive Enterprise Institute has obtained an EPA study of the “endangerment” to human well-being ostensibly caused by carbon dioxide emissions, together with a set of EPA emails indicating that the study, which concludes that carbon dioxide is not a significant cause of climate change, was suppressed by the EPA for political reasons.

You can read the comments that the CEI submitted to the EPA on EPA’s proposed endangerment finding here, along with the emails. The censored report, by Alan Carlin and John Davidson, is here.

In their report, Carlin and Davidson point out that the EPA has not done its own evaluation of the global warming theory. Rather, it has relied on analyses by others, mostly the U.N.’s IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report. That report, however, was a political document, not a scientific one. Knowing that current scientific research disproves the anthropogenic global warming theory, the U.N. ordered that no recent research be considered in the IPCC report. This is a scandal of which too few people are aware. As science, the U.N. report is a bad joke.

EPA is engaging in censorsip, a clear violation of the First Amendment. Global Warming is a farce and this Cap and Trade bill is more taxes.

The Climate Change Climate Change

The Climate Change Climate Change By Kimberley A. Strassel Wall Street Journal June 26, 2009 Steve Fielding recently asked the Obama administration to reassure him on the science of man-made global warming. When the administration proved unhelpful, Mr. Fielding decided to vote against climate-change legislation. If you haven’t heard of this politician, it’s because he’s a member of the Australian Senate. As the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to pass a climate-change bill, the Australian Parliament is preparing to kill its own country’s carbon-emissions scheme. Why? A growing number of Australian politicians, scientists and citizens once again doubt the science of human-caused global warming. Among the many reasons President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority are so intent on quickly jamming a cap-and-trade system through Congress is because the global warming tide is again shifting. It turns out Al Gore and the United Nations (with an assist from the media), did a little too vociferous a job smearing anyone who disagreed with them as “deniers.” The backlash has brought the scientific debate roaring back to life in Australia, Europe, Japan and even, if less reported, the U.S.

Great more junk science in the form of Global Warmng. Earth’s climate is always going to change no matter what. We cannot control it. The Cap and Trade will not pass.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson had the talent. No one will argue that for sure. My favorite song is Bad. “I am bad” “I am bad”. However, I lost respect for him when he became a freak show. Also, he is an alledge pedophile, which is a debatable. Sleeping with other boys is perverted no doubt and why would any parent leave their own child with him is beyond me. Finally, I do not like all the news coverage he is getting. It is everywhere. Also, Farrah Fawcett died that same day and she was a true beauty and icon. Several days ago, Ed McMahon died and he changed television as we know it. He will be with Johnny Carson in Heaven for eternity.

* G8 statement will condemn Iranian “repression”, Italy says

* Russia says election was “an exercise in democracy”

* Delegates want to leave open door to nuclear talks

By Daniel Flynn and Phil Stewart

TRIESTE, Italy, June 25 (Reuters) – Group of Eight powers were divided on how to respond to Iran’s disputed election on Thursday, with hosts Italy pushing for a strong condemnation of violence and Russia calling the vote “an exercise in democracy”.

Western nations at a meeting of G8 foreign ministers in Trieste were pushing for tough language in a final communique on Iran, where about 20 people have been killed in demonstrations following the June 12 presidential election two weeks ago.

“We are working on a document that should condemn the violence and the repression and at the same time stress that electoral procedures are an (internal) Iranian matter,” said Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini.

Full Article

The Iranian election is a farce. Both candidates, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Mir Hossein Mousavi are extremists. Mousavi was behind the Iran-Iraq War and the current nuclear program. Perhaps this could be a good thing for Iran and have the Mullahs overthrown once and for all.

Perez Hilton attack: Hollywood laughs at blogger after will.i.am fracas

Perez Hilton attack: Hollywood laughs at blogger after will.i.am fracas
By Chris Parry

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been often criticized for being a leech on the Hollywood system. Famous for little more than scrawling insults on pictures of famous people on his blog, the gossip-hound emerged from seemingly out of nowhere in 2006 to quickly dominate the salacious side of entertainment journalism with his no-holds-barred attacks on the A-list.

Now, it seems, the A-list is getting their own back, as the controversy surrounding Toronto’s Much Music Awards, where Hilton was punched in the face after yelling anti-gay slurs and abuse at Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, has lit up Twitter as celebrities pile on.

Malcolm in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz jumped into the fray, posting “Perez Hilton, how do you call a man a f—-t right in his face and not expect to get hit?”

Full Article

That’s karma for ya! HA! HA! . A failed actor, this is what Perez gets for being mean to Carrie Prejean. Perez insighted this after he called will.i.am a “faggot”. This is coming from a gay man, after he called Prejean a “bitch” and “cunt”. What a moron! He was asking for it. I am not a fan of Black Eye Peas, but I will consider their music now. He Twittered after he was punched. What a moron!

Here is a photo of him after he was punched.

Perez Hilton Punched

Doesn’t look like he is badly injured.
