BERLIN — Ulrich Sauff and his wife stared at the mammoth domino pieces marking the path where the Berlin Wall once stood and reminisced about life in the barrier’s shadow.

“It was like a prison,” said Sauff, 73, who lived on the Western side of the wall. “For us ‘Wessis,’ the few kilometers from our old home to our new home (in the East) was unthinkable.”

The Sauffs were among those who gathered Monday to celebrate 20 years of unity, marking the day the wall came down. Thousands cheered as 1,000 colorfully decorated dominoes along a mile-long route were toppled to symbolize both the moment the wall came crashing down and the resulting fall of communist governments in Eastern Europe.

The start of good things happening in the world. The collapse of Communism, an evil system. Communism collapsed in relative peace in East Germany and later Poland. Communism ends violently in conflict like Soviet Union, Cambodia, and Romania. There is rarely ever a peaceful transition, like in Pinochet’s Chile and Park’s South Korea. Yes, Park was assassinated, but South Korea did not descend into chaos and bloodshed.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The U.S. Homeland Security secretary says she is working to prevent a possible wave of anti-Muslim sentiment after the shootings at Fort Hood in Texas.

Janet Napolitano says her agency is working with groups across the United States to try to deflect any backlash against American Muslims following Thursday’s rampage by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Recently, Chris (I have a tingle running up my leg) Matthews, Nancy (Frozen Face Shrew) Pelosi, and Tom (everyone is stupid but me) Friedman, recently have desperately tried to start the meme that vigorous disagreement with the President through either rallies or rambunctious Town Hall Meetings will lead to poltical violence and perhaps even an assasination attempt.

This ploy is such a naked attempt to delegitimize opponents of the President that it is almost not worthy of commenting on, and those who are trying to push this “theory” should be held in total disregard and utter comtempt.

However, when actual facts about political violence are analyzed, the ugly ugly truth is far more different than Matthews,Pelosi and Friedman would have you believe.

First, it should be noticed that the two documented cases of political violence that took place over the August recess and the town hall meetings were a Union Thug from SEIU (see Acorn) roughing up protestors against socialized medicine and an Obama supporter biting off the finger of a town hall protestor.

It is funny that the left is so worried about right wing terrorism in the form of what Nancy Pelosi to Janet Napolitano. The truth is that most Presidential assassinations were committed by the radical left. Two of the Presidents that died in the past 100 years were tied to radicals.

William McKinley – 1901 – Assasin – Leon Czolgosz – Politics (Leftist Anacharist – like today’s WTO Protestors)

John F. Kennedy – 1963 – Assasin – Lee Harvey Oswald – Poltics (Communist, Pro-Castro) – As much as Oliver Stone wants to create the myth that the CIA and the far-right killed Kennedy, facts do NOT back up his claim. Lee Harvey Oswald defected to the Soviet Union and was vigrously Pro-Castro, case CLOSED.

Seems like the radical left are really dangerous.

My Idea Of Health Care Reform

Here is my idea of health care reform. People should be allowed to by insurance in any state they want and use it where they live. One thing is that health insurance in Texas may not work in New York. New York insurance law is different from other states and why companies like Met Life and AFLAC have a separate entity in New York. Also, you can only buy the insurance in the state you live in. My other idea is to deregulate it. Seriously, everything in America is so over regulated with complex rules and laws. I do not get it. The government bungled it with “Cash for Clunkers” and that was a billion dollars. Think about universal health care. In addition, they are doing a horrible job with swine flu. There is a vaccine shortage and that is not helping. Also, people should be encouraged to save money for health care, like a rainy day fund.

Hours after President Obama exhorted Democratic lawmakers to “answer the call of history,” the House hit an unprecedented milestone on the path to health-care reform, approving a trillion-dollar package late Saturday that seeks to overhaul private insurance practices and guarantee comprehensive and affordable coverage to almost every American.

After months of acrimonious partisanship, Democrats closed ranks on a 220-215 vote that included 39 defections, mostly from the party’s conservative ranks. But the bill attracted a surprise Republican convert: Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao of Louisiana, who represents the Democratic-leaning district of New Orleans and had been the target of a last-minute White House lobbying campaign. GOP House leaders had predicted their members would unanimously oppose the bill.

Democrats have sought for decades to provide universal health care, but not since the 1965 passage of Medicare and Medicaid has a chamber of Congress approved such a vast expansion of coverage. Action now shifts to the Senate, which could spend the rest of the year debating its version of the health-care overhaul. Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) hopes to bring a measure to the floor before Thanksgiving, but legislation may not reach Obama’s desk before the new year.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The unemployment rate has hit double digits for the first time since 1983 — and is likely to go higher.

The 10.2 percent jobless rate for October shows how weak the economy remains even though it is growing. The rising jobless rate could threaten the recovery if it saps consumers’ confidence and makes them more cautious about spending as the holiday season approaches.

The October unemployment rate — reflecting nearly 16 million jobless people — jumped from 9.8 percent in September, the Labor Department said Friday. The job losses occurred across most industries, from manufacturing and construction to retail and financial.

Economists say the unemployment rate could surpass 10.5 percent next year because employers are reluctant to hire.

President Obama didn’t wait long after Tuesday’s devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

An Ivy League law grad told his mom he must have been out of his mind to spark a blaze at a sacred 9/11 chapel – and now he’s out of a job, too.

White-shoe firm Sidley Austin yanked Brian Schroeder’s employment offer Monday morning, firm partner Bill Conlon said.

Schroeder, a Harvard Law School grad, worked in the firm’s New York office for part of the summer, Conlon confirmed.

He was supposed to return but lost the opportunity after cops say he set fire to a Manhattan chapel containing the remains of 9/11 victims in a drunken prank early Friday.

What kind of sickfuck is this person????????? Setting fire to a sacred place and of all things, 9/11. His defenders are just as bad. I couldn’t help noticing these in the article:

“I know him as someone who has traveled extensively and taken time to see parts of the world that many of the rest of us ignore,” said Patrick Kelly, a board member of HLS Lambda, an LGBT law-student group where Schroeder was co-president.

Alice Schroeder also defended her son as an ace student who wants to fight for human rights.

Sounds like a raving moonbat to me. Anyways, he lost his job. Too fucking bad for him. Cry me a river. Schroeder should be disbarred.
